Privacy policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information LikeFury Ltd collects through this website (likefury.co.nz, including likefury.com and likefury.nz, which redirect here), why we collect it, where it's kept and how to ask for it. We're a software development team based in Auckland, New Zealand, and we follow the Privacy Act 2020.

It covers this website only. When we work on a project for you, our agreement with you covers the information involved in that work.

When you send us a message

The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message, and lets you choose what your enquiry is about. We use them to reply to you and to talk about the work you've asked about. We don't add you to a mailing list or a customer database, and we don't use your details for marketing.

You don't have to use the form. If you'd rather not, you can email us at info@likefury.com. We can't reply without an email address, so the form won't send without one.

When you press "Send message", the website passes your message straight on as an email. It isn't saved in a database on the website. The email goes through SMTP2GO, an email delivery service, to our mailbox:

  • SMTP2GO keeps a record of each email it delivers, such as the subject line, the addresses and whether it was delivered, for up to 35 days (SMTP2GO's storage policy). Our account is held in its Sydney, Australia data centre.
  • Our mailbox is hosted in New Zealand. We keep enquiry emails for one year.

Our analytics records that a message was sent, or that sending failed, along with the topic you chose, if any. That tells us whether the form works and which services people ask about. It doesn't record your name, your email address or your message.

When you visit the website

Visitor statistics

We use Plausible Analytics to count visits, and we run it on our own server rather than through an outside analytics company. It doesn't use cookies, and it doesn't store your IP address. For each visit it records:

  • the page you visited, and the website or link that sent you here
  • your browser, operating system and type of device
  • your approximate location (country, region and city), worked out from your IP address
  • links you click that lead to other websites

To count unique visitors without identifying anyone, Plausible makes a daily code from your IP address and browser details, mixed with a random value that it deletes every 24 hours. So it can't follow you from one day to the next, or from one website to another. The statistics are kept as totals, such as visits per page, and don't identify you. Our analytics server is hosted by Vultr on the west coast of the United States.

The site works fine if a content blocker stops the analytics script.

Server logs

Like most websites, our web server keeps a log of requests. Each line records the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the page that linked to it and your browser's user agent. We use the logs to keep the site secure and working, for example to spot abuse of the contact form. They're kept for 52 days and then deleted automatically. The server is in Sydney, Australia.

Cookies and browser storage

The site sets one cookie, theme, and only if you use the switch between the light and dark colour schemes. It stores your choice ("light" or "dark") for a year. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your browser may also keep a copy of the site's pages in its local storage, so that later pages load faster. It contains our published pages, nothing about you.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information or share it for marketing. The only other organisations that handle it are the services that run the website and deliver email for us:

  • Vultr, which hosts the website server in Sydney, Australia, and our analytics server on the west coast of the United States
  • SMTP2GO, which delivers the contact form emails from its Sydney data centre
  • our email hosting in New Zealand, which holds our mailbox

We would also give information to a government agency or the police if the law required us to.

Information stored outside New Zealand

Some of the information above is stored by these services outside New Zealand:

  • in Australia, the website server and its logs, and SMTP2GO's records of the contact form emails
  • in the United States, the analytics server, which receives the details of each visit and keeps the statistics

They store it on our behalf, to provide their service to us. Our mailbox, which holds the messages you send us, is in New Zealand.

Keeping it secure

The whole website uses HTTPS, so anything you send through the contact form is encrypted on its way to our server. Our server sends it on to SMTP2GO over an encrypted connection too. Only our team can get into the servers and the mailbox that hold your information.

Seeing and correcting your information

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it's wrong. Email our Privacy Officer at info@likefury.com. We'll reply as soon as we can, and within 20 working days.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell our Privacy Officer first, at info@likefury.com, and we'll try to put it right. If we can't, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
